Testimonials
Until I started working with Matt as a trainer, I had very little success with working out on a regular basis. When I decided to try again to get into a regular workout schedule after my son turned one, I realized I needed someone to help motivate me and teach me the ropes. I am happy to say I got exactly what I wanted (but did not really expect): I have been regularly working with Matt for 5 months, and I am TONS stronger, and completely confident at the gym. Working out on my own is no longer boring since there is so much variation in what I can do, and Matt keeps my workouts challenging.
Matt is personable, kind, and patient. He has been able to motivate me by building up my confidence rather than yelling at me to work harder - an approach I really appreciate at 7:30 in the morning! He’s also really good at figuring out what I need to do on a particular day on the fly - for instance, let’s say I have only slept for 4 hours and I have a pulled muscle - no problem, he’s got a whole hour’s worth of the perfect stretches and strength exercises at the tips of his fingers. He’s also been really good with the fact that I have a fairly significant scoliosis curve. He helps me to modify exercises when they don’t quite feel right. He’s a true professional, and a really nice guy on top of that. I highly recommend him!

To say I was nervous joining a new gym and meeting with a trainer is an understatement. My anxiety was at a peak walking into that first session with Matt, and then – we just talked. I remember thinking it was strange he didn’t have me get on a scale. Didn’t he need to see where I was starting from? Isn’t that the only way to measure progress? He spent time learning about my health and fitness background, but it was never about losing weight. The mindset shift from needing to lose something to the desire to GAIN in strength and confidence has been a powerful benefit to training.
Matt’s expertise and knowledge about the body was evident as he quickly identified that my hamstrings needed strengthening so I wouldn’t rely on my lower back during lifts. He wrote out detailed, personalized workouts I could grow into with a focus on nailing down proper form before adding more weight.
Matt also introduced me to the importance of recovery work outside of the gym, like foam rolling and looking for small ways to incorporate stretching and movement at my desk job. He even gifted a lacrosse ball so that I could stretch out my back fully at home!
I have tried personal training in the past and cannot stress how different working with Matt has felt from day one. He cares an incredible amount about his clients and follows up with encouragement and check-in’s each week after our sessions. He challenges me to listen to my body for how many reps are appropriate in a given set instead of having to get it perfect every time. He is patient and encouraging when my internal monologue turns negative and changes up workouts to incorporate some of my favorite yoga stretches. Matt fully sees my potential and pushes me to dig a little deeper while also meeting me where I am at.
A couple of months ago, I didn’t know what a hexbar deadlift was or how to rack a kettlebell. Now I am setting new PRs consistently and gaining confidence in the gym when I go on my own. My fitness journey is still a work in progress, and I am grateful to have Matt’s knowledge and partnership along the way!

I’ve been working with Matt for more than 8 months now - he’s very knowledgeable, personable, keeps me motivated, and challenges me to keep pushing myself (even when I might not want to). Matt keeps the sessions interesting by incorporating new exercises and I couldn’t be happier with the results and experience. I would definitely recommend Matt.

I’ve been working with Matt for the past year, 3 times a week and I cannot speak more highly of him. Matt carefully listened to my goals and designed effective workouts around them, always keeping in mind my personal injuries. Matt is not only highly knowledgeable in fitness, but also has a great personality that helps make working out even more enjoyable. Matt is the kind of trainer that makes you feel comfortable while reaching your highest potential in the gym.

I have been working with Matt Huerta for over a year and have been so impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail. My primary sport is triathlon, and strength training plays an important role in my performance. I was looking for a way to streamline my workouts and be more efficient with my strength training, so I could focus on my swim, bike and run. Matt came up with routines to help me increase my power on my bike, my speed on the run, as well as help with the transition from bike to run. Matt is thoughtful and thorough with his workouts! I sincerely enjoyed working with him and would recommend him for any elite athlete who wants to set up their game, as well as a novice who is looking to improve their health and well-being!
Thank you, Matt, for helping me achieve my IRONMAN goal!!

Matt has been working with me for 8 months and I could not be happier with the results. My original goal was to rehabilitate my knee that had been very painful for two years despite 6 months of physical therapy. Within two months of doing workouts that he created for me I was able to start running again with no pain, and 3 months after that I was able to complete a half marathon race. I was new to free weights and he patiently took me through many different workouts with them. He listened to my changing concerns and goals and adapted workouts to address these concerns and achieve these goals. When I do other activities like skiing, backpacking, hiking, and biking I feel so much stronger and have little to no soreness afterwards. As an added benefit I have lost 20 pounds and feel so much healthier. Matt is knowledgeable, positive, and encouraging. I highly recommend him as a personal trainer.

I’ve never enjoyed working out and have a hard time motivating myself to do so. I’ve been training with Matt since November 2018, and it’s been a great experience for me. He’s encouraging, kind, and makes our sessions fun. I’ve gained strength and confidence in the time we’ve been working together. If you’re on the fence about giving personal training a try, definitely talk to Matt. It’s a great way to invest in yourself!
